Individual Progress Blog & Presentation breakdown

Individual Progress Blog & Presentation Breakdown - 10%

Week 7

This task is designed to provide you (and your fellow group members) another opportunity to provide feedback and receive advice in relation to your topic area and your research and networking processes. Hopefully you will find that there are people in the class who know people who know people who can help you or have suggestions and solutions to problems or dead-ends etc.

Rationale

Collaborative research is an evolutionary process that requires regular and consistent input, feedback and reflection. Utilising an 'action research' approach consier this the 'critical reflection' phase. You are expected to feed back to the group, reassess your process and findings, and to consider new questions to ask during the next phase of research, in relation to both the topic and your process.

Submission

BLOG

Entry should be a summary of my process and blog or journal entries to date. It is suggested that I address the following criteria:
  • State my exact role in my research group
  • The progress I have made so far (what have I done)
  • What strategies have I utilised in my research?
  • What problems have I encountered?
  • How have I resolved them (or plan to)?
  • How I believe our project may connect and/or intersect with other research projects? (either in the course or elsewhere)

Email the URL of the blog entry to my tutor by Thursday 14th April.

CLASS PRESENTATION

For the pupose of the presentation, I do not have to go over everything in my blog post as that would take too much time and everyone has to do it in the tute. Instead, select a key problem or issue that I think is the most important for me at the time (eg. a particular research problem, time management issue or something you have realised about your own learning processes). I have to present my report on this issue, and respond to questions on the floor (minimum 1000 words).

I question whether a single issue will be worth 1,000 words here, especially if it is just something to do with time management or my own learning processes. I'll mention this one to Adrian next tutes...I'm fine with the blog entry, but I don't quite understand how this class presentation part will work yet.

ASSESSMENT

This task will be marked by my tutor (I think mainly the blog). Highest marks will be awarded to those that show an ongoing engagement wit the reflective process and are able to draw on some earlier entries and that show insight and individuality. Further discussion on this assignment will occur in tutorials (yes!).

Okay....so I think I'm pretty much okay with this assignment, as I have already begun reflecting on my learning process quite well in this course. I just need to keep this up and delve into the research process already!
